Throughout 2009 we will be celebrating the Group’s Centenary.

Already all uniformed members are wearing the specially-designed Centenary Badge, which is also available for friends and former members to buy.

For those without uniforms, a souvenir pin-badge is available.

2009 events

January

  • The 2009 calendar, featuring photos from as far back as 1910, right up to 2008 is now available.

April

  • The Group’s Centenary was recognised at a Civic Reception in Rutherglen Town Hall, hosted by South Lanarkshire Council.

May

  • Saturday 16 May - Community fun day at the Scout Hall, open to all families across Burnside and the surrounding area.
  • Members of all sections of the Group, and their families, will take part in our Centenary Camp.

October

  • Reunion Dinner at the King’s Park Hotel, open to former members and friends of all ages. (Please note tables at the dinner are limited, and tickets are already selling fast for this event.)

The Centenary year is the appropriate time to formally document the history of the Group, and we are producing a small book which will be available to purchase later in the year.

All our Centenary activities are being recorded on camera, not only for the Group archives but also for a souvenir 2010 calendar, which will be available by December 1st 2009.

For further information on any of the souvenir items mentioned above, or the Reunion Dinner, please e-mail enquiries@113.org.

Watch this page for further updates as the program develops.
